Meet Jesse
Educator • Homeschool Mom • Founder of Wholistic Roots Education
Hi, I'm Jesse! I'm an educator, homeschool mom, and the heart behind Wholistic Roots Education. What began through years of educating my own children has grown into a space where I can share my love of learning while supporting other families along the way.
How Wholistic Roots Began
I knew after my first daughter was born that I wanted to be the one to educate her and any future children I had. I became so intrigued by watching her grow through each developmental stage and seeing how naturally she learned from the world around her.
It honestly started so simply. We would read a lot of picture books together, and I found myself creating little lessons and activities inspired by the stories we were reading. Over time, that love of learning grew beyond traditional academics and into the practical arts cooking, financial literacy, sewing, self-expression, and other skills I felt were just as valuable for my children to learn.
A few years later, while attending a homeschool co-op, I noticed that many of those practical learning experiences were missing. I began teaching some of them there, and seeing how positively both the children and their parents responded showed me that other families were looking for this kind of learning too.
So, what started in my home slowly grew beyond our home. I began sharing what I had created with other families, and that eventually blossomed into Jes Sprout Education, the beginning of what would later become Wholistic Roots Education.
My Background
My background has taken me through several areas that have shaped the educator I am today. I hold bachelor's degrees in Education, Psychology, and Fashion Design & Business, along with a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I've also studied Human Development and trauma, with a focus on how trauma can show up in educational settings and affect a learner's experience.
Along with my formal education, much of what has shaped me as an educator has come from years of homeschooling my own children, creating curriculum, and adapting lessons that fits the needs of diverse learners.
A Little Beyond the Classroom
When I’m not teaching or creating lesson plans, you’ll probably find me painting, sewing, reading a good book, trying a new recipe, or working on whatever creative project has caught my attention that week. I love homemaking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family.
The West Coast has completely stolen my heart…because what!! give me a drive along the PCH, the ocean outside my window, and somewhere beautiful to stop along the way, and I’m happy. And while yes, I absolutely love a slow, cozy day at home, put me on a roller coaster and apparently all that peaceful living goes right out the window lol.
I guess I’m a homebody who also likes a little adventure every now and then. (balance lol)
